Stable Lives is a Community Interest Company based at our family riding school, Parbold Equestrian Centre (PEC).  Nestled in the Douglas Valley at the foot of Parbold Hill, between the Leeds Liverpool Canal and the River Douglas, it is an area of outstanding beauty and calmness: a safe place for those who visit.

Our family has strong military links. Through personal experience, we understand the mental and emotional pressures that are placed upon families, this has helped to develop a strong passion to use our horses and the land at PEC to support individuals and provide respite to spouses and children.

The concept is a simple one.  Groups of veterans and/or their families getting together to support themselves and each other.  Through working with horses or on the land, they learn new skills, build relationships and self esteem that allows the families to lead meaningful and ‘Stable Lives’.

Gardening, fishing, wildlife photography, woodworking, pasture management, as well as stable management and riding, are just a few activities available.  A number of community based projects are also planned throughout the year.  For some, it is simply to come and relax, enjoy the calm environment, have a bit of banter and a brew.

Our staff have many years of experience in youth work, education and the equestrian sector. All are DBS checked, receive regular training in safeguarding, mental health awareness and are trained dementia friends.
